• Great-grandfather emigrated from Ireland to US with a fiddle under his arm end of 19th century
• Dan Kelly, the father of the family, studies philosophy and theology in Rome in the 50ies, becomes a teacher and later on runs a transatlantic antique business
• He marries Barbara Ann, a ballerina
• With their children, they move from the US to live in Spain in a small town with no TV, radio, electricity and running water. They live a simple life and make music every night in front of the open fire place. They raise twelve children.

SINGING IN THE STREETS OF EUROPE
• One day Dan takes his kids to show them beautiful Rome. They park in front of the Colosseum and when they get back to their VW bus everything is stolen except their music instruments
• Out of the need they begin to sing on the streets in Rome only to find out that people love this beautiful family and their music
• They decide to travel through Europe and finance it by singing on the streets
• They travel to Venice, Vienna, Zürich, Munich, Paris, London, Dublin, etc.
• Throughout this time their home is a London double decker bus and later a real boat

Eines Tages bringt Vater Dan seine Kinder nach Rom, um ihnen die schöne Stadt zu zeigen. Sie parken vor dem Kolosseum und als sie zu ihrem VW Bus zurückkommen, ist alles daraus gestohlen – ausgenommen ihrer Musikinstrumente.

- Während dieser Zeit ist ein alter Londoner Doppeldeckerbus ihr zuhause, dem später ein echtes Boot folgt
FIRST NUMBER ONE HITS
• They get discovered by a record producer from Polydor and sign their first record deal end of the 70ies
• Overnight it becomes a huge success in central Europe. They hit the top of the charts with several albums
Ende der 70er Jahre werden sie von einem Musikproduzenten von Polydor entdeckt und unterzeichnen ihren ersten Plattenvertrag.
Über Nacht werden sie zu einem großen Erfolg in Zentral-Europa. Mit ihren Alben erreichen sie den ersten Platz der Hitparaden.
HARD TIMES
• Barbara, mother, gets sick with breast cancer. The family stops singing and returns to their home in Spain. The mother passes away one year later in 1982.
• These are very hard times for the family. They have no money left. They travel to Paris and sing that winter in the metro (subway) to make their living
Mutter Barbara erkrankt an Brustkrebs, woraufhin die Familie aufhört zu singen und nach Spanien zurück geht. Ein Jahr später, 1982, verstirbt sie.
Schwere Zeiten für die Familie. Kein Geld ist übrig. Sie reisen nach Paris und singen im Winter in der Metro, um sich den Lebensunterhalt zu verdienen.
THE SUCCESS STORY
• They get discovered by Eddie Barclay, a legend in the French show business (he owns publishing rights of Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel, amongst others)
• In the mid 90ies the big breakthrough in central Europe.
• They break all records with the album “Over the hump” (1994) and other albums that follow.
• “The Kelly Family” sells over 20 million records and receives 40 platinum and golden records. It gets all awards in Germany available (Echo, Bambi, etc.)
• 1996 “The Kelly Family” fills stadiums in Europe. In Vienna “The Kelly Family” breaks the record and pulls 250.000 people in the Donauinselfest, 1995
• “Over the hump” is till today on the 7th place of most sold albums in Germany ever and was sold 3 million copies (for example compared to “The Wall” of Pink Floyd, which was sold in Germany 2 million copies)
• One of the biggest hits of “Over the hump” is the song “First Time”, which Patricia Kelly writes herself (among many other songs). “First Time” becomes the most successful single for “Bravo”, the leading teeny magazine, it becomes the hit of the year 1995:
• As of 1989 Patricia is the right hand of Dan Kelly in all management and business matters, parallel to the music activities.

1996 füllt The Kelly Family Stadien in Europa. In Wien brechen sie den Rekord und spielen vor 250.000 Menschen beim Donauinselfest 1995.
„Over The Hump“ steht bis heute auf Platz 7 der meistverkauften Alben Deutschlands und wurde mehr als 3 Millionen Mal verkauft (Zum Vergleich: „The Wall“ von Pink Floyd verkaufte in Deutschland 2 Millionen Exemplare)

• The American show business hears about “The Kelly Family”. Offers from William Morris agency, major record companies and Walt Disney, which offers to make a film about the family. Also the family is invited to Japan, China, etc.
• However the family decides to take a break of the years of hard work.

Nach Jahren der harten Arbeit beschließt die Familie eine Pause einzulegen.
PATRICIA STARTS SOLO ACTIVITIES
• The Kellys get married, have children and dedicate themselves to solo projects.
• Patricia gets married in 2001 and has with her husband two sons age of 15 and 17 years old
• She works with excellent jazz musicians, tours and develops her own sound (a cross over of folk, pop, soul and singer songwriter).
• In 2014 she released her selfwritten autobiography "Der Klang meines Lebens" which became a Spiegel Bestseller.

Patricia heiratet 2001 und hat mit ihrem Ehemann zwei Söhne, geboren 2001 und 2003

• 2017: “The Kelly Family” gets back together again and celebrate a huge comeback
• The new album “We Got Love” shoots straight to number one and reaches triple platinum in Germany and other Europeans countries. The album so far sold 700.000 copies.
• The first arena concerts in Dortmund Westfalenhalle are sold out in minutes
• 2018: The arena tour “We got love” is sold out and 400.000 people in 7 countries across Europe will have bought tickets to the arena tour and open airs in summer 2018
•2019: LEA (Live Entertainment -) Award for the best Arena Tour of the Year 2018 in Germany.
•2019/2020: The Kellys are back - bigger than ever. The saga goes on: Another Open Air - and Arena tour followed with 49 concerts across Europe in 7 countries: Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Belgium
